Goodbye, My Little Coche

Tuesday, May 28, 2013

Hey all,

Thursday is the day! I'll be going to Indianapolis for orientation. I've been staying busy by washing, packing, shopping, and taking care of lots of last minute errands this week. This past weekend, I was fortunate enough to get to go on a little vacation with my parents to their beach house in Florida. It was nice that I got to spend a bit of time on Saturday at the beach. I also got to see my aunts and uncles on my dad's side, so I was surrounded by my family. It ended up being a nice little wrap-up to these couple of weeks I've had resting at home.

This weekend, I said my first goodbye... it was to my precious car, aka My Little Coche (the Spanish word for Car). My parents thought it'd be a good idea to leave my car at the beach so they could have a second car down there this summer. I was reluctant to agree; however, I don't think I'll have much use for my silver Hyundai over in Africa, so I suppose it was for the best!

Me and Baby Bennett being adorable
I also had to say goodbye to my sister-in-law, brother, and my baby nephew, Bennett (picture on right). We had a little birthday party for my brother at my parents house this evening (his birthday is at the end of the week), and I had to say goodbye to them for the summer. I love them and miss them already, but I know they'll be fine and that I'll get to see them in a short couple of months.

Although I'm already saying "goodbye" to some loved people (and things, namely my car), I know I am saying "hello" (or, more likely, "bonjour") to all the new people I'll get to meet over the next two months at the same time. It's bittersweet, but at the end of the day, I'm feeling mostly just excitement. I can't wait to see what God has in store for me and for this ministry! Continue praying, everyone. Africa is about to get real!

Love always,
Danica

Welcome to my blog!

Hello!!! Thanks so much for taking the time to check out this blog. I'll hopefully be filling it with some cool stories these next couple of months while participating as a Reach intern with CMF International in Ivory Coast.

I leave in 10 days! Wow! It hardly seems real right now, but it's happening. On May 30, I'm going to Indianapolis for CMF's pre-departure orientation. I'll be meeting all of the other REACH interns who are going to other fields. Specifically, I'm excited that I'll be meeting Kelsey, the other intern going with me to Ivory Coast, for the first time. On June 4, we'll leave Indy and be off to Africa!

I'm almost done with my support raising! I have approximately $400 left to raise. If you feel led to give, you can follow this link to send in your support online. Please keep praying for me as I start preparing to leave, and pray that I can finish up the rest of my support raising.

I'm going to try to see if I can't set up an automatic subscribers email for those of you who want to be notified when this is updated. For now, you can check on the blog about once a week for new updates. Love you all, thanks for your support and prayers!
